The Diary of the Building of a 5" gauge Stirling Single

Calenders

A great start to 2020 with a successful boiler shell test hence the BIG RED BLOB for the RED LETTER DAY of January 5th 2020.

Between 4th March and the 19 June the club was closed due to Covid 19

Boiler test on 20th June Failed to pass the hydraulic test.

Boiler test on 4th July Failed the hydraulic test.
After the loco was returned to me as you can see from the RED DOTS there has been an almost continuous daily work on the loco even if that is only planning the next days work !!

In the years 1990 to 2018 I did 229 days on the build in in 2019 until 15th October 129

If I could have worked on the loco every day then so far it would have been 358 days so just short of a year !!
24th Jan 2018 was the day in that year that the loco went away for a company to carry out work to assist me and was returned to me on the 8th April 2019 .

The intensive work on the loco in October November and December 2017 was when we were having a new kitchen fitted so I had time to do what I wanted in the workshop.
No work on the loco took place in 2016 2015
2014 2013
No work on the Loco took place in the years 2011 and 2012
2010 2009
2008 2007
No building of the Stirling Single took place from 1991 to 2007 as at that time I was changing job which demanded all my attention until I retired in late 2006.

How I wish that I could have put some time into the build during that time.

However as you will see the build has been very spasmodic over the years with periods of intense building and long periods of absence from the build.
