Background
The North of England is the home of Roundhouse Engineering. On a visit north in 2008 my wife and I called in on Roundhouse of Doncaster and purchased the kit of parts to build Katie. The kit came in three boxes HBK 15 Katie Chassis kit, HBK 16 Katie boiler kit and HBK 17 Katie body kit and one packet HBK18 Katie Radio Control fitting only kit. Until mid 2011 I had successfully run a mix of live steam locomotives and electric locomotives on my garden railway but then in mid August 2011 I found that the track had been so damaged by the winter's snow of 2010/2011 that even a good clean and running electric locos for an Easter event was not possible. So I decided to sell my electric locos and start building the live Steam Katie. |
